**Cheryl Attends Liam Payne's Funeral, Shares Heartfelt Plea for Their Son Bear**

Cheryl Tweedy, former partner of One Direction singer Liam Payne, joined family, friends, and fans in mourning as she attended his funeral in England on November 20, 2024. The private service came one month after Payne's tragic death in Buenos Aires at the age of 31.

Accompanied by her *Girls Aloud* bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, Cheryl was seen leaving the service behind Payne’s parents, Karen and Geoff Payne. Payne’s former One Direction bandmates—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson—were all present to honor their late friend, alongside Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy and other notable attendees, including James Corden.

### **A Grieving Mother’s Plea for Privacy**

Cheryl, who shares a 7-year-old son, Bear, with Payne, previously addressed her heartbreak in an emotional Instagram post shortly after his passing.

"As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being," she wrote. "Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend, and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son who now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again."

Cheryl also expressed deep concern for how media coverage of Payne's death could affect their son in the future.

"What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days," she shared. "It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future."

She concluded her plea by asking the public to consider the impact of their words and actions on grieving families.

### **A Legacy of Co-Parenting and Friendship**

Cheryl and Payne first met in 2008 on *The X Factor*, where Cheryl was a judge, and Payne was a contestant. They began dating in 2016, welcomed Bear in 2017, and separated amicably in 2018.

Despite their split, Payne spoke fondly of Cheryl in a 2022 interview, highlighting their strong co-parenting relationship. "The relationship we have with each other now as friends has only grown more. She gives me full autonomy of my own life... and I know [Bear] is being taken care of because he's all she cares about. You couldn't ask for more," Payne said.

### **Details Surrounding Payne’s Tragic Death**

Payne passed away on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. A preliminary autopsy report revealed multiple internal and external injuries, with investigators noting that Payne was "not fully conscious" or "experiencing a noticeable decrease or loss of consciousness at the time of the fall."

Cheryl's presence at the service, alongside Payne's closest friends and family, underscored the deep bond they shared despite their separation. Her heartfelt words reflect the enduring pain of his loss and the legacy he leaves behind for his young son.

The group had been drinking heavily and taking cocaine. Ms. Hand testified that McGregor pinned her to a bed and assaulted her, leaving her with extensive bruises and abrasions.
