**New York Jets Fire General Manager Joe Douglas Following Disastrous Season**

**Jets Fire GM Joe Douglas Amid Tumultuous Season**

The New York Jets' season of turmoil continued on Tuesday as the team announced the dismissal of general manager Joe Douglas following a disappointing 3-8 start.

This move comes just weeks after the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh on October 8. Under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich, the team has struggled further, posting a 1-5 record.

Phil Savage, a former Cleveland Browns GM (2005-08) and senior adviser with the Jets for the past six years, will step in as interim general manager.

“Today, I informed Joe Douglas he will no longer serve as the general manager of the Jets,” team owner Woody Johnson said in a statement. “I want to thank Joe for his dedication over the last six years and wish him and his family well.” Johnson also confirmed that the search for a permanent replacement will begin immediately.

The Jets' season, which started with high hopes fueled by the return of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers from an Achilles injury, has fallen far short of expectations. The offense has struggled mightily, ranking 26th in both scoring (18.5 points per game) and total yards (294.4 per game).

Douglas, who signed a six-year contract in 2019, departs with a 30-64 record and no playoff appearances during his tenure. The Jets’ postseason drought, which dates back to 2010, remains intact.

Savage, 59, brings extensive experience, including stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and the now-defunct Alliance of American Football. He also served as executive director of the Senior Bowl from 2012 to 2018. His appointment marks another chapter in the Jets' ongoing effort to stabilize the franchise amidst a challenging season.
